Ramblings about The Dark Knight.
I SAW THE DARK KNIGHT.
This surprises me, but I can't quite work out how I feel about it. :/ I expected it to be more amazing than it was, maybe. Which isn't to say I didn't enjoy it or whatever because I did, it was really good. I just...I don't know. Maybe it's not 'my kind of movie' but I hate saying that because I don't feel like I have really specific taste in movies. I got kind of confused because I know next to nothing about Batman in general, but I went with three people who know quite a bit, and had seen the movie before, so that helped.
NOBODY WARNED ME ABOUT BURNT FACE MAN. D: God, I am so squeamish and pathetic, but that made me feel so ill, oh god. My best friend mentioned it vaguely, but she was like "It just looks like the stuff in those anatomy books you like, it looks cool" but it REALLY WASN'T. (I have this weird thing where I buy books on anatomy from like, the '70s? I really like the drawings of everything, which is quite uncharacteristic of me, really, but most of the time it isn't that realistic so it doesn't bother me.)
It was so annoying, because the screen was so big that I had to cover my eyes or whatever and then I wouldn't know what was going on. I asked my friends if it showed up again and one of them was like "We-ell, yes...but, it's in a bit where the Joker is in a nurse's outfit, so you're probably going to want to watch that." XD
SPEAKING OF THE JOKER, JESUS CHRIST HOW AWESOME WAS HEATH LEDGER? GOD. EVEN MORE AWESOME THAN I EXPECTED, AND I WAS EXPECTING A LOT OF AWESOME. He needs to get one of those Oscars you get after you die which I am CONSTANTLY FORGETTING THE NAME OF. So creepy, so twisted, so weirdly hot. One of my friends was like "I don't even find Heath Ledger attractive, but god, I want the Joker so badly. I think it's because he's the villain, I can't help it, idk what's wrong with me." And I was laughing at her, but then about halfway through I was like "...I kind of see what you mean."
I was sort of quivering in my seat whenever he was on screen though, because even though I knew you weren't actually going to see him go all crazy with a potato peeler/knife on someone's face, I was still terrified. Which is a good thing, I suppose, I mean, that's probably what they were going for.
The whole thing with the ships was awesome, and actually really fascinating. So much of the things the Joker did were so CLEVER.
Also I lol'd pretty much every time Batman spoke, I couldn't help it. HIS VOICE. IT'S SO DEEP AND GROWLY AND NOTHING LIKE HIS NORMAL VOICE, AHAHA. My friends were laughing too, even though they'd seen it before. We were like "He sounds like he has a really bad cold or something, he needs a Lemsip."
What else have I been doing? I went into town today for like the first time in ages, and I got a really pretty dress for my Granny's party, and also some trousers which sort of fit and sort of don't, I think I just need to wear them in. It's so annoying, I kept seeing things I wanted, but I don't have any money now. D: I really want more icons on LJ, because I so don't have enough Narnia ones and it upsets me. I suppose I should probably get a job. Idk.
Also, it's taken me WAY TOO LONG (as in like, two years) to realise that I like Tegan and Sara. I don't know why, but I'm glad I did realise eventually. They're really good.

Oh yes, his voice, LOL. I was listening to the radio the other day when they were talking about the movie, and the radio-caster-guy-dude started imitating him for like.. the next half hour. IT WAS HILARIOUS!!

Hahahaha, yeah, my friends imitate him all the time now, it's hilarious.

Oh, Batman's voice. I really. I love this movie, you know, and it kind of makes me ashamed whenever I think about it because like, Bruce, get that checked out, you probably have throat cancer. D:
I COULD RANT ON AND ON ABOUT THE JOKER AND HEATH LEDGER BUT I WON'T, IT WOULD BORE YOU. HE'S JUST, LIKE, RELALY AWESOME AND IT MAKES ME INCREDIBLY SAD THAT HE WASN'T ALIVE TO SEE THE MOVIE AND GET THE AMAZING FEEDBACK THAT HE SO MUCH DESERVED TO GET. Also, I really wanted to hear him talk about the Joker post-release of the movie, just because it's such a fascinating portrayal and I just want to pick apart his brain.

Hahahaha throat cancer. XD Idk what's with it, I guess he has to disguise his voice and everything but they just made it far too funny.
You know, I was thinking about that too, wanting to hear him talk about playing the character and everything...because obviously that's what would usually happen, and ack, I don't know, it's just not fair that he can't get the feedback and everything. :(

GROWLY BATMAN FTW!!!
no subject
HAHAHA. It was so funny.

Christian Bale is a good actor, but the general consensus seems to be that Heath Ledger's Joker is what really makes the film.

Definitely!!

Yes! Me too! Like, I'm equal parts terrified of him and in love with him, and I'm okay with that.
Haha yes, same here! XD

Ditto!!!

HEATH LEDGER OWNED THAT MOVIE SO MUCH, I MEAN, OMG JUST REALLY.
Er...posthumous Oscars? Honorary? idk.
YEAH OMG the bit with the boats was actually really wicked. =D
I love the bits where Bruce Waynes isn't dressed as Batman and acts like a complete playboy airheaded jerk so people won't realise - like when he crashed his car and they're like "You just stopped a criminal, Mr Wayne." or whatever, and he's all "ORLY? Whatevs." XD
LOL all of mine are Narnia except one. XD
no subject
UH HUH. TOTALLY. OH MY GOD.
YES, posthumous!! That's the word. I forgot it like, five times the day after I saw the movie, which was annoying because I kept trying to say how he should get one.
It really was! I was like "am I disturbed for wanting to see what they'll do?" haha, but I think it was a really interesting social experiment.
LOL YES, I loved that too. It's really clever actually.
I'm using more of the Narnia ones than anything else, but I always feel like I should have a few icons for each of the fandoms I'm in, haha.
no subject
Yeah, I felt like that until Narnia TOOK OVER. =D
OMG OMG OMG I was watching the Olympics and they had one of those montages of athletes, you know, and THE MUSIC WAS FROM NARNIA!!!!

My reaction exactly, I was all o_O "what's wrong with his voice?" XD

I don't remember reacting to it at all last time though, I must have been drunk or something XD

Yes, so very yes. I absolutely LOVED that film.
I am not a big fan of the creepy so after two hours and about 3847839274398 deaths I wanted to die so I wouldn't have to see anyone else get killed, and it made me feel so film-sick (like sea-sick but not - not because of the Big Screen making you feel ill or anything, but because the moviepicture makes you Think) that I got three hours sleep that night, AND had work the day after which was a SATURDAY D: but even despite all that it was one of the Best Films I've Seen.
The ships bit was just excellent; such a timelessly amazing concept. And taking those people hostage and then dressing them as villians? Very smart. (But slightly twisted - you couldn't be quite in your right mind to think of this stuff, but then the Nolan brothers seem relatively sane). There were so many really clever ideas in that film - the kind you get a couple of in a decent film, but there was one about every ten minutes when it was a two and a half hour film.
I had never ever seen a Batman film but a couple of my friends gave me a speedy Batman History Speech and its so cool that they filled in all the background behing the Joker and Two Face and everything - it was just so cleverly constructed I can't shut up.
Plus there were so many of brilliant actors and roles in that film but, IMHO, the Joker completely outstripped them all. He is just the coolest villian ever. But really it's no wonder he was on anti-depressants and sleeping pills D:
Right, I'm going to get off my soap box and scrape some money together to see it again!

I forgot to mention the hostages bit, that was amazing. In cleverness, I mean. It was just so cool, you're right, there were so many like...good ideas.
Lol yeah, my friends gave me a brief Batman history as well, and would like...every now and then, whisper something to me so I'd understand what was going on. It was helpful because the movie is actually quite confusing.
He IS the coolest villain ever. I really think that was some of the best acting I have EVER seen, as well. There was nothing of Heath Ledger in it, and nothing of any of the other characters I've seen him play...amazing.
