I forgot how when the Narnia fandom gets going, hardly a day passes without there being something for me to post.
harmonyalr very kindly alerted me to these videos from a recent Dawn Treader press conference, and I thought I'd share. You can watch part one here and part two here, on a site hilariously called "Hollywood Jesus".
The highlight is probably when they're talking about keeping mementos from the film and Ben says he asked if he could keep Will P. And then Will says he asked if he could keep Ben. Why yes, that IS all it takes for me to start slashing them, why do you ask? But...so adorable.
Poor Skandar. No one ever pronounces his name right.
Liam: I shed a tear the other night, and I'm told the Queen shed a tear too.
Liam: Of course, as we know, C.S. Lewis, who wrote the books, was a very famous atheist...
Michael: There was a lot of technology at my fingertips, there was a lot of wonderful visual effects (the poster behind them falls off the wall) and a lot of 3D and all that stuff...something's just collapsed. Bad sign.
Georgie: That's a bad omen, isn't it?
(Ben gets up to stick the poster back on the wall)
Michael: But I just wanted to make sure that the technology didn't overwhelm the underlying emotion of the film. (Ben sits back down) Good work, King Caspian.
♥ Will P. is so lovely and humble. When someone tells him he 'stole the film', he respectfully disagrees and talks about how honoured he is, and how he's sitting there at the table feeling so proud. It's the kind of thing actors say all the time but somehow it sounds like twelve times more genuine coming from Will P., how does he do that? Also –
Will P.: We talked about making it comical, and Michael thought I was an idiot anyway, so...
They bring up the Georgie/Emma Watson comparison, and she's very sensible about it—understanding that it's basically only being made because they're both young actresses in fantasy films that they started worked in when they were little.
Georgie: I myself would quite like to go to university, but I can't imagine being a model, 'cause the thought of seeing my face blown up on the side of a shop makes me quake and shake, so...probably not the best of ideas.
Skandar: I'm starting my first term at university, and I'm really enjoying that. I'm basically doing a four year course, and I know a lot can change in four years and I'm waiting to see what I feel at the end of it, and I'm really enjoying not having any sort of definitive plan at the moment.
(asked if that means he's just going to stop acting)
Skandar: No, I'm just gonna see what happens, really. I'm going to focus on my brain(? enunciate, Skandar) for four years, and I'm not gonna do anything to compromise that, and I'm gonna see what happens after four years.
Ben: I'm thinking of becoming an actor. I haven't made any firm decisions.
I like how Ben distracts everybody from the horror of the idea of Skandar not acting again, by being amusing. But seriously Skandar has to act again. D: The thought of him just vanishing completely for four years is already hard enough to deal with. FOUR YEARS. D:
Georgie: Yeah, I guess one of the main challenges that I—(poster falls off the wall again)
Andrew: Ben? (Ben gets up to re-stick it again) You could just hold it.
(Asked: what's the best prop/memento/souvenir that you've gotten from working on these films/which memento would you like to get your hands on?)
Liam: Well, for me it's the lion suit...that's definitely a keeper.
Michael: Didn't you want to take a boat home, Ben?
Ben: I actually rang up Rich Taylor at WETA and asked him to make me a copy of Rhindon, the sword that I use in this film, with Aslan's head on the handle, so I have that in my bedroom to ward off...so that's the one that I do have, and I asked if I could keep Will, but...
Will P.: That's weird, 'cause I asked if I could keep Ben, but his agent told me to go away.
(talking about 3D)
Ben: Well, it's one better, isn't it?
Mark: However, Ben's performance is in 2D.
Ben: My performance is in 1D.
♥ I honestly don't understand why it took me so long to fall in love with Ben.
(asked if it's difficult playing a character without much of a darker side)
Ben: I can play villains and creeps in other things. It's nice to play virtuous.
And then when the whole thing ends they all swarm around Andrew and wish him a happy birthday. CUTE. I know I keep mentioning this, but I'm seriously so glad Andrew plays a part in this movie, 'cause it would be soooo weird without him there for any of this. I love Andrew. I'm actually getting all soppy right now about how much of a family they all are, and how it really doesn't feel like too much has changed despite the new people involved. I love that.
There's also some more inexplicably entertaining pictures of them all meeting the Queen.

Seriously, these are COMEDY GOLD to me for some reason. Who is Joe McElderry making eyes at here? Will??

ANDREW AND JOE MCELDERRY. Ahaha it's so surreal and ridiculous.

I'm cracking up at how it looks like Skandar's concentrating SO HARD here.

I don't think I need to point out Will P.'s face in this one.

Or this one...

Are Will and Skandar looking at each other or is that just wishful thinking?
So this woman is kind of annoying but she asks questions that are more fun than the usual HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE HERE AT THE PREMIERE. Like asking them if they know any 'snow jokes', of which Will's is totally nonsensical. I MISSED WILL. They do a little segment on the Queen (lol Georgie "NOT JUST THE QUEEN. THE QUEEN IN 3D GLASSES. YEAH.") and Skandar's asked if he's going to curtsey. And Ben says the first of the talking animals he'd eat if he was stranded would be a minotaur. And then Liam Neeson says that, as a talking animal himself, the first of the humans he would eat would be 'the prettiest'. LULZ.
This is a cute video of Anna. She says "Will Poulter was the newbie on this, and I think Skandar and Georgie and Ben really looked after him," and she almost winks, and it gives me bad thoughts. I still blame the random text generator for the fact that the prompt 'Will P. welcome orgy' still won't leave my brain. Anyway, also LOL at her not being nervous about meeting the Queen but feeling like she should be, and then joking about being decapitated for doing something scandalous. ANNA I LOVE YOU.
There are a few cute moments in this, too. Super-quick shot of Ben and Georgie posing for photos at 20 seconds, and then Ben saying "very very exciting royal snowing flaming fantasy wonderful magic" WHICH ISN'T EVEN A SENTENCE, BEN, YOU BIG WEIRDO. It then shows Skandar getting out of a car and looking strangely surprised to see a camera. And Will P. talks about everyone making him feel welcome and then there's a shot of him and Georgie walking arm-in-arm. ♥
I bet that two hours after I post this, something new is going to show up. I'M SORRY IF I'M SPAMMING YOUR FLISTS, HERE. You know this is how I get around Narnia time.
