The age difference is a tough one, but if it's set in the future when she's either 16 or 17 & legal in the UK, it wouldn't be so bad. Not saying that people still wouldn't give them both the side-eye due to the 14 year age difference, but not having to deal with the threat of Ben being carted off to jail, the writer can then focus on the reactions of people who know them both personally, with the media/public reactions in the background. I'm a sucker for 3rd person POVs.
