i love love love that basically two seconds into the description of the case, it's not hotch or prentiss or jj or anyone that thinks of nathan, it's reid, the one that spends this whole time trying to deny it and the first person in his mind as the unsub is nathan. WHICH IS TERRIBLE because he knooows that no matter how good of a kid nathan is or how hard nathan tries to get past all the homicidal urges, gideon's right and it's only a matter of when nathan kills, not if, he's always known this but there's SO MUCH DENIAL. IT'S OKAY BABY.
and how rossi's completely hard up about this, EMOTIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED lol, and hotch's standing up for him and everyone else is concerned but they also know the major possibility of this being nathan and without that connection to him, like reid has, they do kind of treat it like "there, done, we got him" and reid totally ruined D :
OMG OMG AND "Reid..." says Prentiss, hesitantly. "It could be. He would be, what, eighteen now?"
"Nineteen," Reid says right away, his voice small. ALIFDSIANFDIAL THIIIIS haha omg THIS. he's so right away, so right there, HE KNOOOWS, this kid, how old nathan is, where he is, leaving the hospital, i would love nathan and reid in bed, curled into the other's limbs on a soft morning day, and idek, reid just listing off all the facts he knows about nathan because i feel he would idkidkkk. I JUST LOVE REID'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NATHAN lol and how he doesn't even seem to be able to stop himself from correcting prentiss, this involuntary action that just comes out of his mouth NGGGH
and omg. omggg. no lie, it kind of makes me upset how the team just goes on about the easy connections and how they've basically caught the unsub already and like. i know if this was real life, it'd be just like this but i'm like. NATHAN. MY BABY lolol seriously. we've spent so much time going over this character and his need to be normal and trying to fit in and wanting to be accepted and the fact that this road right here is so unbelievably possible for him I JUST WANT HIM TO DO WELL. like i don't want this life for him haha am i way too invested in this? tell me i'm not alooone~
THE FIRST FLASHBACK. He glows a little brighter, burns a little stronger. i love me some drugged up reid LOL which is horrible. and being happy to sit and talk on nathan's bed even though they're in a hospital, even though nathan's fucked up and reid's fucked up, just sitting and talking I LOVE IT. but to think about nathan sitting in that hospital without a visit from reid for months on end, i know it's because of reid's job i just wanna hug nathan thooough. ugh. definitely need fic of drugged reid visiting nathan.
aaand jj finding out that nathan's been released and the fact that reid's known and is already WITHHOLDING INFORMAATIOONN. nnghh IT'S DOWNHILL FOR EVERYONE. omggg WHEN ISN'T REID MESSED UP, HOTCH. HOOOOTCH. and then questioning reid if he would ever tell anyone if he knew nathan had killed someone THIS FIC TOO RIGHT. omg i can't seem to stop myself AGAIN from retelling the entire story to you even though you already know it BECAUSE YOU WROTE IT but it's all so freaking fabulooouussss. LIKE THE PERSONAL LETTERRRRSS and garcia refusing to listen to the tapes SHE WOULD but lol at the same time "he gave me the creeps" HAHA i can't.
