I WOULD NEVER HAVE GOT INTO THIS WHOLE THING IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOU, YOU REALISE? YOU STARTED IT AND IT'S AMAZING. AND YET WEIRDLY, IT ALL TRACES BACK TO MY LITTLE SISTER WHO HATES THE JONAS BROTHERS. IDK. IT'S AWESOME THAT WAY.
And okay, they might disapprove, but with the pressure of the way they live right now, they're going to see it as a little bit tempting, I think. It's so hard to explain that, though. Yeah, no, I get that, too. To be sort of self-involved, I guess it's kind of like me in a way. I was raised in the church til I was 8 when my parents left (not the Pentecostal church, but nonetheless), my parents were always pretty big on being good people, but not strict in the religious sense. We're expected to be responsible for not pure. It's like...I don't know, the Jonases and the Followills are almost incapable seeing a middle ground. The Followills were so desperate to just not be that anymore that they went to the other extreme. The Jonases are so scared to be anything but that, that they cling to the fold, in a way. If it starts, where does it stop? If you do one bad thing, what's to prevent you from doing another. Is it all just one big slippery slope to what the Followills do. But at the same time, there's so much pressure to be good, sometimes they with they could be happy being like the Followills, but they all know they couldn't be happy that way. ... Did that make sense?
DID YOU REALLY THINK THAT ABOUT SEX ON FIRE? I REALLY DID. Other than the chorus, there's definitely not a lot that says it's definitively about Sex. A lot of the verses are just about something intense. And the kiddie-play, rattling bones, and white knuckles? Totally could be construed as something else.
