I think this one has impressed me the most so far. Everything looks so epic and beautiful and I can't waaaait. We should also maybe talk about the fact that I was just hit by the sudden realisation that I might ship Edmund/Jadis WHERE DID THAT COME FROM, THIS FANDOM MAKES ME SHIP EVERYTHING.


Also while I'm making a Narnia-y post, and because my Ben/Georgie desires are still not waning, I'd like to post a quote from this interview with Ben about the Birdsong play.

Ben: I was gonna say, there's a sort of voyeuristic aspect, I think, with certain parts of the play. I mean when you're reading a book, and you're reading a chapter about an episode where (stammers) the love scenes, or scenes with the, with this sort of fifteen year old character Lisette...sort of very very awkward scenes...if you're reading that in the safety of your bedroom or the safety of your sofa, you can distance yourself slightly from what's happening, and whilst it's awkward and you're sort of flipping pages to find out what happens, you're not confronted with the imagery of it.

LISETTE IS A CHARACTER WHO MAKES ~SUGGESTIVE REMARKS TO BEN'S CHARACTER. Let's just think about other fifteen year olds we know who would probably do that to Ben. In fact, actually, Wikipedia says Lisette is sixteen. (I have read the book, but it was a looong time ago, so Wiki will do for now.) You'd think Ben would know that. PERHAPS HE HIMSELF IS THINKING OF A CERTAIN FIFTEEN YEAR OLD.

I was talking to merae about this ship and now I'm really interested in trying to write something based on the idea of Georgie seeing Dorian Gray, because you know she totally did even though Ben probably forbid her. And how she always used to see Ben as a big brother type like Will, but then suddenly she's watching him getting naked and having orgies, and it gives her ~feelings. And then maybe she can't quite look Ben in the eye anymore and he thinks he's done something to upset her, and so he tries to make things better only that makes it worse and and and. THOUGHTS.


I genuinely don't think I'm physically able to write all of the fic I've got ideas. AND IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE WITH THE RELEASE OF THE MOVIE. But I can't wait.

Man I haven't even gotten out of bed and had breakfast or anything yet. THIS IS WHAT THIS FANDOM DOES TO ME. I should go start my day.

SAME HERE. When I first saw them I was like WHAT, DID THE MOVIE PREMIERE SOMEWHERE ALREADY? They all look like themselves, being their touchy-feely selves, I suppose. XD It does look like a wedding. MAYBE IT IS THEIR WEDDING. THEIR THREE-WAY, INCESTUOUS WEDDING.

OMG THANK YOU FOR GETTING AS EXCITED AS I DID. I was noting down what he said and I was like, I am totally overdoing this. BUT SERIOUSLY. Picking that specifically as an awkward thing. And the way he stammered SO much before saying the bit about the love scenes, like he thought of Lisette first but figured he should come up with another example too. AND GOT HER AGE WRONG POSSIBLY. Now I'm just imagining him having some kind of deep-down shameful crush on Georgie, and reading the book and seeing ~parallels, and feeling all ashamed.

RIGHT? I think that's why I love it. Because I'm just SURE that Ben wouldn't let her see the movie, and I'm sure she saw it anyway. So it all sort of ties in with reality quite easily.

RIGHT? I'm kind of puzzled about why I never reeeally thought of it before. I think I was focusing on the real life counterpart too much. But there's something about the ~connection they have that really gets me. ESPECIALLY SEEING AS THEY KEEP BRINGING JADIS'S CHARACTER BACK. It's like they're making her influence on Edmund an even bigger deal than it was in the books. And THAT LINE in one of the VDT trailers where she says she can make him HER KING and MUCH MORE. it's so CLEARLY a ploy to get us to see it and it'S WORKING. i mean, i can totally see edmund being hung up on her as well because she made him who he is, in a roundabout way. if she hadn't stripped him of everything and made him see his selfishness and the hurt he was causing? ugh, idek i know she was evil and would have killed him at the drop of a hat, but she was also his biggest influence in narnia. probably more so than aslan, even if edmund is LOYAL now.

she's still going to be able to play on that, somehow.

UGH YES TOTALLY. Because like, it was such a big deal for him. SUCH a big deal. And he was so young and like growing up at that point, so it would have such a huge effect on his mind and emotional development and everything. Like every time he has any ~bad thoughts, he'll connect it to her. And I think he's always going to have that darker side ANYWAY, more than the others at least, so it just makes it easier for her to tempt him.

I have no doubt that he hates her, really, deep down but like you said, he's always going to have that side of him that isn't filled with good because of what she did to him.

it would be all too easy for that hate to become something else and easier for her to get to him if she plays on his fears; of guilt, maybe, and of being the one that's always going to walk the line between good and evil.

(especially with peter not around to convince him otherwise)

lucy's there but it was always peter that edmund needed the approval from; peter that edmund wanted to make proud, at least in the end. (it was always about peter in caspian - even when it should have been about caspian)

and now peter's not there and it's just lucy and jadis is going to so tempting for him.

THIS. THIS EXACTLY. Peter was definitely always the one to bring him back in line, and I think he'd find it so hard without him around. And I do also believe that deep down Edmund is good (hence him always defeating Jadis) but that he does struggle with it (hence...his struggle to defeat her, haha).

Man, there is some serious psychological fuckery in the Narnia books that REALLY appeals to me.

edmund was always my favourite because of that. he was the most fucked up and he's the only one i can really relate to. i LOVE the judas type characters because they're usually the ones that have to take the longest journey to gety to the 'good' or whatever it is they're striving for and edmund had one NASTY journey.

jadis is probably his anti-peter. like the angel and devil on your shoulder, if you will. he has peter on one side, jadis on the other and peter's not around...

if there WERE to be fic, i have no doubt that edmund would pick right in the end but he'd be SO tempted and he'd probably do SOMETHING. it would be out of some ridiculous attempt to prove to himself that he could do it and NOT be tempted into something terrible, but things with edmund never end all that well :/

YES. Same here. 100% goodness and purity = booooring. People who struggle like Edmund and sometimes do the wrong thing are so much more fascinating as characters, and def more relatable and human. (Is relatable a word? You know what I mean.)

So maybe his birth certificate says Alexander but his parents decided a different form of it was more interesting after he was born??

I haven't even watched that trailer yet and I won't, because Narnia is kind of a ~family thing~ with me, so I like to wait to watch a trailer until I'm in a position to show it to my family and watch them squee over it too, in their own ways. :D

Will the First would play the electric triangle. (IDK, it seems a bit prissy to me, and so does he — in a good way.)
Anna would play the keyboard. Skandar would play the drums (and always hit them too hard).
Georgie would have a fuchsia-colored electric guitar and do screaming vocals.
(I just Google Images'd "fuchsia" — and misspelled it — to see if I was right about what color it actually is. An image of a dress came up. Therefore, Georgie must wear that dress at least once on stage. With black knee-length boots and other black accessories, IDK, maybe two earrings in each ear as well... things to create this very ~2004 pretty-meets-pUnK chikK~ look. And then Ben would notice it and like it and pretend not to be doing either of those things.)
Will P./Will the Second would play something weird like the piccolo or tall African drums. (Maybe weird-Benito would do this, actually?) And Ben would play bass guitar and possibly do vocals with Georgie. (Depending on the set they're playing or just upon how shippy I feel right then. hahah.)

Aww, that's sweet. I actually love sharing things like that with family but most of the time they don't really 'get' it the way I do. But Narnia is different, my Dad's girlfriend is a huge fan so I showed her this trailer yesterday and got to watch her squee over it too. XD
