hardparadePERSONAL CANON MEME RESULTS.
SKANDAR KEYNES (lolol I just realised all of my Skandar personal-canon is about embarrassing incidents in his past. Clearly I love to make him suffer. Sorry Skandar, ilu really. ♥)
1. Skandar walked in on Anna changing once, during the filming of the first movie. They were both completely mortified and barely spoke to each other for a full two and a half days. She avoided him as much as she possibly could, and whenever they did end up in the same room as each other, Skandar would go pink and refuse to talk to anybody. Everybody thought they'd had some awful argument (except James, who was absolutely convinced that one of them had a crush on the other, and seemed to go out of his way to make things even more awkward between the two of them.) Will, though, ever the peacemaker, set up an elaborate plan to get them to forgive each other for whatever imagined argument they'd had, and make up. In the end they had to tell him what had really happened and he wouldn't stop laughing until Skandar thumped him. Ever since then they've been completely comfortable with each other when it comes to all things nudity-related.
2. Skandar's had a crush on Tilda ever since he first met her, but he's never told anyone and plans to keep it that way. Whenever he thinks back to how he used to giggle and blush and trip over his own feet when she was in the room, he wants to go back in time and punch himself. He has no idea how he managed to make it through all his scenes with her, he thinks he spent the entire time in a bit of a daze. It's horribly embarrassing. It's calmed down a bit over the years, but he still gets tongue-tied whenever she's around. Even now when they meet up for a chat and a cup of tea, he likes to secretly pretend he's thirty-five and they're on a date and discussing art and literature and politics, and not talking about how things have been for him with school.
3. Skandar wrote Will a Valentine's card when he was fourteen. It still embarrasses him how much thought he put into it. He made about three drafts, then threw them all away and got a shop-bought one instead, a simple white one with a shiny red heart on the front. He re-wrote the message inside so many times that eventually it was just a mess of ink, and in the end he chickened out and stuck a blank piece of paper over his scribbles and simply wrote 'Happy Valentine's Day' and a cliché question mark underneath. Will just thought it was from a fan, and Skandar let him believe that. He even teased him about it for a whole day, just to eliminate any suspicion, but he still likes to imagine what would happen if Will peeled back the glue-stuck paper and saw what was written underneath.
EFFY STONEM (These are basically all about the Stonemcest. *sigh* I tried, I really did.)
1. Effy's been sleeping with Tony for two years, and she always likes to take risks and make people wonder about the two of them, even though it throws her brother into a total panic. It's only little things really. If he's got a friend round in the morning, she likes to give Tony a peck on the lips before she leaves for school. She leaves her underwear in Tony's room sometimes, knowing that Mum will just think she put it in with Tony's laundry by mistake. And sometimes she persuades Tony to mess around with her in the living room, or on the kitchen table. Tony thinks she's reckless and irresponsible, but the truth is, she plans it all perfectly, and no one's ever found out. And plus, he always gives in to her eventually anyway.
2. Effy stopped speaking the day she found out Tony was going out with Michelle. He broke her heart. She promised to herself that day never to care about anyone else ever again, but she's never been able to tear down the love she has for her brother, and eventually she forgave him and understood. She discovered she liked not speaking, though. It made it easier for her to observe, and to study. She started talking regularly again after Tony's accident, because it terrified her to think of how much time she'd wasted with her lips clamped shut when she could have been talking to him. She really thought he was going to die that night.
3. If he had, she would have killed herself. It'd been something she'd said ever since she was little, that if her big brother died before she did, she would die too. (Dad always told her to shut up and not say things like that, she never understood why.) For the first week he was in the coma, the doctors said things looked grim, and she spent all her time planning her suicide. She liked the idea of echoing her brother's "death", walking out in front of a bus, and she liked the thought of bleeding from the wrists in a hot bathtub, but she wanted it to be final, secure, foolproof. She got hold of a gun through a friend's uncle, and kept it wrapped up in one of Tony's jumpers at the bottom of her wardrobe, ready to bring it out the moment she heard the news. Of course, the news was not what she'd been expecting. But she knows it might happen one day, and she still has the gun.

alexi_lupin! I was planning to, but then I realised Edmund was kind of the only one that I actually have personal canon for. Also lol @ 2, it's basically my way of saying EDMUND TOTALLY TOPS PETER, OKAY.)
1. Edmund never really feels guilty for feeling the way he does about Peter. He knows that he should, but however hard he tries, he just can't. (Admittedly he never really tries that hard. Why make yourself feel guilty on purpose?) It's been a long time, anyway, and all those feelings have just sort of faded into the background. He's wanted Peter for as long as he can remember, and he only really felt relieved when he admitted it. It didn't make things worse. He kind of pretends it did, sometimes, just to keep Peter company in the misery and shame, but it's never real. He has a hard time feeling guilt anyway. If something he'd done brought some kind of destruction and despair, it'd be easier, because he could see what he'd caused and feel bad for it, but he can't see what he and Peter are doing wrong. It isn't hurting anyone, so why should he feel guilty?
2. If he had to state it explicitly, he would have to say that he was the dominant one in his relationship with Peter. He thinks it's the kind of thing that would surprise people, if they ever knew that there was a relationship more than brotherly in the first place. Peter's the eldest, the strongest, the one who always seems to be in charge. No one would ever expect Edmund to take control, but then again, they rarely see him that way. They may have seen him make important decisions that affect all of Narnia without batting an eyelid, and they may have seen him in battle, fighting and strong, but there are some things they don't see, and never will. They never see him dragging Peter away from some boring meeting and pushing him down onto a bed, persuading him with kisses. They never see the way he convinces Peter to give in to him, fighting through his brother's guilt and pain. And they never see Peter lying on his back, legs over his younger brother's shoulders and begging softly for more.
3. His siblings find it incredibly difficult to go back to being children when they come back out of the wardrobe after living so many years in Narnia, but it doesn't bother him as much. It's hard, of course, to adjust, but it doesn't take him that long to get used to it. He supposes he's always stayed a kid inside.
FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY (I thought this'd be easier because I do have a lot of personal canon for the twins in my head, but it was weirdly difficult to actually write. I hope it makes sense.)
1. The twins slept in one cot together when they were babies. The photo albums are full of pictures of the two of them, little and sleepy and pink, curled around each other. Molly and Arthur even let them carry it on for a few years. (They were especially low on money at the time, anyway, and it just seemed to make sense.) When an extra bed was eventually bought, it was nearly impossible to get George to sleep in it. He would kick and scream and cry. Even when Molly and Arthur tucked him in tight and it seemed like he'd drifted off to sleep, by morning he'd be back in with Fred, cuddled happily up to his brother, both twins snoring softly. By the time they were ten, Molly and Arthur thought they'd cracked it, thought the habit had been beaten. They just didn't know that George had started sneaking back over to his own bed every morning a few minutes before they came in.
2. They first kissed when they were little, not really understanding what they were doing, just copying Mum and Dad. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, just something fun to do. And things really only progressed from there. They went from kissing each other out of curiosity at seven years old, to wanking off together in George's bed at Hogwarts, holding each other's hands tightly under the covers. And then one night there was another kiss, a proper kiss, a kiss that meant something, and then there was sex, and more kissing, and more sex and even more kissing, and finally there was love -- a love not hindered by their biological connection, but strengthened by it. They were good with secrets, and brilliant with lies and cover-ups. No one ever found them out, and because that was really the only worry they ever had, their relationship went much more smoothly than, perhaps, it 'should' have.
3. When Fred died, George fell into a deep depression. It wasn't what people expected of him and he knew it, but he was nothing without Fred. He barely left the flat for months afterwards, hardly ate or washed. He covered up all the mirrors. His family took it in turns to come and visit, to make sure he was all right, but whenever he woke up to the sight of a blurry freckled face peering down at him, and a shock of red hair, he always mistook a poor brother for his twin. This was -- he assumed -- what led to a brief and awful affair with Percy, a month of feverish sex and jumbled lies, and overwhelming guilt that seemed to be making up for how little he'd felt when he'd been with Fred. Percy was a terrible replacement -- he was no replacement -- but they were sick and aching and mourning and they missed him and they needed each other. It took George six years before he even began to move on with his life.
PETER PETRELLI (Ahahaha his are totally the longest! I feel kind of unfair to all the others now, but then again, I have been watching Heroes practically non-stop for weeks now.)
1. It's one of those questions adults always ask. Teachers, family friends, everyone. And whenever someone sidled up to little Peter and knelt down on the floor before him and asked, "So, what are you doing to do when you grow up, little man?" Peter invariably answered "I'm going to marry Nathan." Most of the time people laughed, because he always said it so cheerfully and innocently that the adult in question couldn't help chuckling at the bizarreness and the strange adorability of the answer. But if Nathan was in the room he'd just set his jaw and say, "You shouldn't say that, Pete." But he'd make sure to ruffle Peter's hair afterwards and offer him a grin so Peter didn't think he was mad about it or anything. One time someone asked him why, and Peter looked up at them with big eyes and said, simply, "Because I love him the best." And then he gave Nathan a kind of why-are-grown-ups-so-stupid? look, and Nathan just couldn't stop the smile from tugging at his lips.
2. Peter has a lot of sex. It sounds awful put that way, makes people jump to conclusions about him, think he's a slut or a user. But it's not like that at all. It's something he's always found hard to explain. It's not even that he likes to fuck that much -- though he does love it, loves to touch people and make them feel wanted. He can empathise, understand people's needs, because he knows what it's like to ache for someone else's touch. And sometimes just having a person's hands on him makes him weak in the knees, and he'll drop everything if the person in question wants to get into bed with him. But it's not a self-esteem issue, it's not that he's desperate or uses sex to get people to like him. To him, sex is just a connection between two people, something that strengthens whatever connection already exists. Peter's slept with more than half of the people he knows. It never turns seedy and he never really feels like a slut, and it doesn't usually get too serious either, not unless he wants it to. But even so, he knows it can't be healthy, knows it can't be good for him to really need something so badly from people.
3. It's true that Peter doesn't love anybody more than he loves Nathan. But sometimes he has this anger at his brother, anger that he doesn't really understand. Maybe it's a perfectly normal big-brother-little-brother power struggle. But then again, nothing in the Petrelli family has ever really been normal.

Date: 2008-04-12 09:40 pm (UTC)It's really weird that you said that about Effy playing at being grown up and connections to The Dreamers and everything, because I'm in the middle of a Tony/Effy fic that kind of has that sort of thing in it. It's set during the time when their Dad is in Paris and their Mum is all, you know, drugged up all the time. So they have to do everything for themselves, and it's all kind of fucked-up and domestic at the same time. I think you might like it. :)
And re: Secret History, hooray, get a hold of it and let me know what you think! I was sold at the brother/sister twincest too, hahaha.
And glad you liked that bit of the Peter thing! XD He's so cute.

I kept being like, aww, man, he's adorable, and then I'd be like, WAIT, I'M THE ONE WRITING THIS STUFF. And I love embarrassed!Skandar too! I think that's why it keeps cropping up in my Will/Skandar/Anna, you know, like in the second part when Anna's all naked and he's just like staring at his hands and going bright pink. SO CUTE.
And speaking of Will/Skandar/Anna, I am writing more! You kind of reminded me, actually. Also just writing about Skandar in this, made me want to write him again. Although this part is from Anna's POV and she's being all girly and thinking about everything and how she feels, which is kind of annoying, but I'm going to have her meet up with Tilda and have a chat about everything, and Tilda's going to be like "FANTASTIC. Don't worry about ~what it means~, just have fun!" And then of course it will end in more sex. Interesting sex, too. If I can make it work.
I really am going to have to do more than three, though, you know. Because I really want to do more from Skandar's POV, and he and Anna still haven't had sex (and aren't going to in this current bit) and I'm just, like, not finished with the whole story yet. I never thought I'd write a series-fic. I usually hate them.
Anyway I'm glad you liked the Tilda/Skandar, the whole idea is obviously adorable and needs to be written by one or both of us at some point. I just can't see it actually being reciprocated because, you know, that'd make Tilda a bit of a creeper, even if it's in the future and he's older and stuff. But just the unrequited crush stuff is, you know, cute.
And yes I'm glad we agree on the non-guilty!Edmund. It really just fits in with what we already know about him. He just doesn't really seem to care about how he's SUPPOSED to feel about things. Whereas Peter would just be completely tortured by the entire thing. And yes he is a total top!! I was so surprised when I found out that a lot of the fandom really hated the idea, same with top!Skandar. I don't know why. I mean I think it's possible that they'd switch it up, but generally Will and Peter are just such bottoms to me. Especially Will, actually, which leads me on to your next point re: sluttiness, because I see Will as the slutty one, ahaha. I think Edmund could be kind of a slut, though. I feel like I wrote that in a throwaway line once, but I can't remember. Anyway, don't worry about putting too much thought into these things, clearly I totally do it too.
I'm glad people have agreed with me about Fred and George having such a relaxed approach to their relationship, because it kind of seems so unrealistic, but it's just their characters, I really think that's how they'd go about the whole thing. And I know, I still haven't forgiven JK Rowling, grrrr. >:(

I think I read a fic once about the twins sleeping in the same bed when they were little, and the beds having to be spelled apart or something? I can't remember, but I think that's where that personal canon came from. It's just such a sweet idea.
