Skins 3x09. I don't want this season to be over. :(

I wasn't going to post about Skins right away because I feel like my thoughts about the episode are all jumbled and I was going to watch the episode again to sort them out. But I'm really bored/procrastinating, so. Idk, it just felt like the episode itself was a bit all over the place? And I was watching with my Dad and his girlfriend, and the last episode they'd seen was Freddie's, so they were really confused and kept asking questions. >:(


There were quite a few things that I thought were weak. I'm really, REALLY glad about how the Naomi/Emily storyline ended up, BUT the way it all happened was just weird. I didn't so much have a problem with like, the events, they all just seemed SO RUSHED that it ended up not making sense. I'm okay with Naomi changing her mind a lot because I think she's that sort of person, especially in this situation, but because it all happened in one episode it had to be rushed along and then...idk, it didn't work quite so well. :/

I'm also mad about Pandora and Thomas. I still adore Thomas, but I hate that he forgave Pandora. I hate even more that we were given no explanation of why she was cheating on him in the first place. It made it all pointless. I thought it might've been an interesting storyline if we'd got to see WHY Pandora went from being crazily in love with Thomas to having sex with his polar opposite behind his back. Because we weren't given an explanation, it just makes her look like a horrible person, like Thomas is way too good for her. Meh.

But! The episode became AMAZING in spite of all that because of the EPIC TWINCEST. This show...does not even really care if siblings seem a little more than that, I swear. There's just so much, I don't even know where to start.

When I ship twins usually, I like the idea of them being like, perfect for each other, and having this really strong, intense love that they don't worry about showing. Fred/George and Tom/Bill, for example. But it's actually just as interesting to have a level of like, active dislike going on? Fighting and jealousy and stuff. (Charles/Camilla from 'The Secret History' by Donna Tartt, for example.) So yeah, I actually love that these girls have the relationship that they do. It's interesting and possibly more realistic to see teenage twins acting this way?

Lol, that reminds me. My Dad's a twin and he spent the whole episode going "I am so, so glad my brother and I were never like that." Haha.

The bit where Emily said "Why are you talking twin?" just--omg. ♥♥♥ SWEETEST THING EVERRR. That's the thing, I like that their relationship is all complex and everything, but underneath it they do still have that 'twin thing', a shared childhood and secret languages and stuff. And Emily's happy to go and sit an exam for Katie. *melts*

I also loved how they dressed the same even though it was a total WTF moment and so, so wrong. And that bit where Katie was totally just half-naked standing in front of Emily! Which, like...I'm close to my sister and everything, but...that's unusual, right? Idk. Also, LOL FOREVER at "You're naked, bitch!"

LOVED all the catfighting, and there was totally a moment where I inserted a kiss into all of that. I HAVE INCEST GOGGLES, I ADMIT IT. But come onnnn. The lines "She's mine", and "You'll never love her as much as I do"? Seriously.

I even loved how Katie was desperately trying to control everything and make it go her way, because even though I wanted to punch her in the face when she was talking to Naomi and fucking everything up, IT JUST MAKES HER CHARACTER SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING. I LOVE THAT SHE'S KIND OF A TOTALLY INSECURE AND NEEDY PSYCHO.

Uhh. Just trying to remember more about the episode. Oh, I hated the Mum and Dad, but that's sort of a given, ugh. Especially the Mum, wtf! I did like Emily's outburst at the dinner table when she got back from Naomi's though, even though she wasn't taken seriously, I just love that she's accepted herself and is being honest etc.

Other stuff I liked:

- That Naomi and JJ could tell that Emily was Emily at the beginning. XD
- The twins' little brother and his hilarious lines, rofl.
- The bit where Katie was standing in their room and saw the pictures of guys on the wall on her side, and girls on Emily's side, that just felt really realistic to me. Ditto with the 'box of fannies', ahaha.
- Katie saying to Freddie "There's nothing I can do to make you want me more than her, is there?" So sad. :(
- JJ AND FREDDIE TURNING UP IN LIKE, SILKY SCARVES OR WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WERE WEARING. NO, REALLY, LOOK MORE GAY. ♥
- JJ worrying about how to greet the twins' parents. Lolol did he say "Yo, Fitch family!"? Amazing.
- Actually, EVERYTHING JJ SAID, I think.
- THOMAS GIVING EMILY HIS SHOES AND JACKET. ♥ Thomas really is impossibly sweet. I also loved his reaction to Emily saying that she's gay. "That's fine. Should we call a taxi?"

The previews went by WAY TOO FAST but I predict that Effy and Freddie are going to get some kind of ~happily ever after~ and Cook's going to be all ~heartbroken~. The only way that'll be all right with me is if the EPIC GAY LOVE STORY is back in full force. If I can still pretend the boys are pining for EACH OTHER and not Effy, it's all good.

Re: the longer previews, I do have to say that I quite like Effy and Cook together. I think they make sense. Like I said before, I don't like them as a ~serious couple~, but as the fucked up pair that they are, all on the run and everything, I like it. They seem to get each other. It makes more sense for her to be with him than Freddie. And the 'Freddie's fumble' clip? LOL FOREVER. I love how JJ stares for a moment and then covers his eyes, and Karen's just, idk, acting like she walks in on her brother wanking all the time, and, you know, she's not grossed out or anything. Awesome. Alsooo the shed looks more like it used to, hooray!

AND AS FOR EFFY'S VIDEO DIARY: ♥♥♥ Tbh Kaya's acting is pretty awful there, but, TONY MENTION. SHE NEEDS HIM. SHE DID GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM. SHE THINKS HE MIGHT KILL COOK. HE'D BETTER BE AT LEAST MENTIONED IN THE ACTUAL EPISODE, TOO, IF NOT ACTUALLY THERE. WRITERS, YOU CAN'T TEASE ME LIKE THIS.

There was a lot of twincest. They almost went too far with it, I think, too far for TV anyway ;) ...but it creeps me out a bit because of all the sets of twins I've known. I don't even want to imagine what could have gone on.

You didn't like the Thomas/Panda? I'll admit it was cliche, but the both of them are just so darn cute! The same goes for Emily/Naomi. I had tears in my eyes towards the end, I don't know why. Something about the ending just melted my heart, so they were happy tears, of course :D

WTF was with JJ and Freddie's outfits anyway? I thought Emily was finding JJ a tie, but he was wearing a purple scarf and turtleneck? I don't even know where to begin with Freddie and the boy usually can dress quite well.

I have to go watch the long previews and Effy's video diary now...actually I'm going to go watch them all, because I'm pretty sure I've only seen JJ's.

Thomas and Panda are both really cute and everything, it's just...I like her less after the whole Cook thing. I was okay with it the first time but when Thomas came back she seemed so sorry, I just don't get why there was no explanation. :/ I did love Emily/Naomi though, I'm so glad it ended that way. ♥

i didn't think anything of the nudity. they share a room, so i'm sure it's a non-issue.

i loved emily at dinner, the box of fannies, the little brother, & jj being jj. but, dude, i know you didn't like the emily/jj sex, but were you put off like i was at how rude emily was being to him? it made me sad :(

No, I know the nudity wasn't meant to be a big deal and it made sense seeing as they share a room and like...LOOK the same, but still. I was a bit surprised.

I was a bit confused about Emily being so rude to JJ actually, yeah, even though I didn't like the fact that they had sex. They seemed so happy and friendly with each other the last time so it was weird! Poor JJ. :(

I bet next week WILL be a Freddie/Effy reunion. Ugh. D:

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but there was this huge "INCEST" sign in the classroom in Freddie's ep. Yes, I do believe the writers are screwing with us. They know perfectly well what they are doing.

Effy's diary? Pretty awful, but also amazing because of the Tony shoutout! When she was all: "Don't shout at me on the phone again!" That was wonderful.
Tony was not much of a shouter in general, but when Effy is in trouble of course he would freak out.

I can totally understand the Effy/Cook thing now. When I saw his episode I just thought that he was disgusting and needed to be quarantined or sterilized or something... in spite of his blatant love for Freddie. One awesome thing about Skins is that they are really great about character development and they have made Cook, if not likable, at the very least interesting and a real human being. He makes my skin crawl a lot less, at the very least.

I do think that Effy and Cook are kind of perfect for each other right now. Freddie is one of those asshole guys who is totally convinced that he is just a good guy who has been slighted by the world. If Skins is going for realism then Freddie and Effy would never, ever work... even though they are both ridiculously attractive. As far as Effy and Cook go, I can totally see them in the future in this really screwed up relationship where they both hook up with other people constantly, but at the end of the day it is still the two of them.

God, yes, exactly!! I was so surprised to find myself understanding/caring a little about Cook and Katie, when in the beginning they just seemed two-dimensionally awful.

Your description of Freddie is spot-on, too, ugh, that's basically why I hate him. And the idea of him with Effy. I really really hope they don't end up together but it just seems like that's what's going to happen. I like the idea of her being with Cook in a screwed-up sleeping-around sort of relationship much more.

Hahaha, normally, I do not see incest AT ALL. Nick/Joe were my first incestuous 'ship and it's all very new to and still slightly uncomfortable for me. BUT, this? HOLY SHIT.

I just watched the episode, and, omg. True, it was all a bit over the place but GOD THE LOVE. I think the Emily/Thomas scene might have been one of the most emotional ones for me on Skins for a long time - "What do you do when someone you love lets you down? Really fucks you over?" "You must try to stop loving her." "And...is that possible?" "No. I don't think so."
Maaaaan I cried. And he was so nice and so un-puzzled by the gay thing. Awww.

I do agree the scene in which Katie looked at the walls and noticed the differences was very realistic. I hated her behavior though. II got it, and appreciated the twincest and how twisted her character is, but GOD, I was SO SCARED Naomi would be put off by all that, when she finally decided to reach out. I loved the ending. I loved the Emily/Naomi. Love love love LOVE.

Dude, the entire episode oozed twincest (Emily and Katie doing everything together? I think I can see the start of some smut there), Katie acting like a jealous girlfriend is one thing, but her acting like a psycho jealous girlfriend is a bit WTF-y?
Even if you ignore all the jealousy shit and Katie randomly being naked infront of Emily (okay, not randomly, but they're too comfortable together), you can't excuse Katie, blatantly, checking out her sisters goodies when she spots Freddie -
