More Skins fic. I wrote this in like an hour, a plot bunny basically just pounced on me out of nowhere. And I LOVE THIS SHIP. It's so much fun. I'm so writing more.
Title: Handling Her
Author: likecharity
Pairing: Cassie/Tony
Rating: R
Warnings: Cassie/Sid-bashing. Infidelity.
Summary: Tony was just saving Sid the trouble of a messy, difficult relationship with a girl far too complicated for him.
A/N: I don’t hate Cassie/Sid, I swear. They’re lovely together. This just sort of came out, mainly because I love writing wanker!Tony, and Cassie needs to have a bit of an edge.
Sid couldn’t handle her. That’s all it is.
Well, it’s not all it is. Sid probably wouldn’t be able to handle that Polly Kendall girl in his English class, the one with all the moles and the weird tic, and Tony wouldn’t exactly be willing to take her off his hands.
But it’s not just that Cassie’s attractive either. Though she is that. Very much so. All blonde and soft and wide-eyed, and up for pretty much anything. And she has actual hair between her legs. (He’s never understood why some girls insist on shaving. It just makes them all stubbly and he’d much rather have to pick a little hair or two out of his teeth than have bloody bristles scratching against his face.)
Sid couldn’t handle her. He was way too slow, and inattentive. And it wasn’t like their relationship had been going anywhere. He couldn’t even get far enough with her to enter into the whole hair vs. stubble debate – which is amazing, really, seeing as Tony'd managed to get her into bed within the first couple of days.
He does feel kind of bad, though, sometimes. That’s why he hasn’t just come out and told Sid yet. It’s the guilt or something, he figures, though really he was just doing a friend a favour. Cassie’s the kind of girl who wants people to listen to her, to know exactly what she’s feeling at any given time. And Tony can’t do that much (after all, he is still a teenage boy), but he sure can pretend. And if that’s good enough for Cassie, it’s good enough for him.
And she wants sex, too, which would’ve taken Sid far too long to work out. She’s not exactly subtle. And okay, maybe she would’ve been all right with Sid’s embarrassing lack of experience, but she’s probably a lot happier the way it is now. She doesn’t need to tell Tony ’just there’ or ’fuck, don’t stop’ because he knows. Girls are all the same in bed when you get right down to it, Tony thinks. Pay enough attention to the clit and you’re sorted. Sid, he reflects, probably doesn’t even know where the clit is.
It’s a favour, really, if you think about it. Of course he would’ve liked for Sid to lose his virginity during the whole thing – seeing as that was what Cassie had been for in the first place – but he wouldn’t have felt all that enthusiastic about having Sid’s sloppy seconds after it’d all gone down. And seeing as it’d been going down so horrifically, he’d had to step in.
Cassie likes him, still, sure. That’s how it’d started. She’d come to Tony to talk about Sid in the first place. Complain about him, mostly. ’Oh Tony, please, could you talk to him? Could you do that?’ And he’d agreed, he’d sympathised, he’d comforted. He’d even slipped in a couple of sly compliments, along the lines of ’I don’t know why he’s being such a wanker. If I had a girl like you, I’d never be so careless.' He was surprised she didn’t see through it, but then, she did have a screw loose. Maybe more than just one.
She still talks about him sometimes. Even talked about him when they first kissed. ’You’re a much better kisser, you know, Tony.’ Of course. And he’d said he didn’t want her comparing the two of them, as they were best mates and all that, but really it was kind of nice to keep hearing her say that sort of stuff. Not that he needed to know he was better at relationships than Sid. He already knew that. Hence the whole situation. Him taking Cassie off of Sid’s hands. Couldn’t handle her. Et cetera, et cetera.
They’re not very good at the keeping-it-secret part, though they do try. And Sid’s not really the sharpest knife in the drawer, so if he does turn up to find them both hanging around in the living room together, he’s going to be too busy talking about whatever was on TV last night to notice they’re both only half-dressed.
That only happened the one time, though.
It makes it more fun, the secret bit. For Tony at least, though he’s pretty sure Cassie feels the same way. She’s a lovely girl, really, kind and caring and all that, but she’s got a bit of a wild streak in her, and she doesn’t exactly stop him from touching her under the blanket when they’re all watching a film and Sid’s right next to them. She probably just thinks it’s easier that way. Easier than telling him the truth. It’d probably break his heart. Closest he’s ever gotten to actually shagging anyone, not to mention the fact that he seems to think he’s in love with her as well.
Poor naïve bastard.
He rang Tony up once when Cassie was giving him head. Tony’d answered, making a big show of saying “Oh, hello, Sid!”, almost causing Cassie to choke. It was an awkward conversation – Tony’d had to pretend he was moaning out of pain from a stubbed toe, and Cassie just kept sucking him harder to try and stop herself giggling at how ridiculous it all was. Sid was none the wiser, but that didn’t exactly surprise either of them.
Afterwards, she’d settled up close to him and said, quite matter-of-factly, “Wow, Tony. You really are a wanker, you know.” Circling her nipple (perfect ones, she has, not all wonky like Michelle’s), he’d replied, “Yeah. And that’s why you love me, right?” She’d just laughed at him, and he assumed he could probably take that as a ’yes’, or at least a ’I don’t care either way, can we fuck again?’ which, to be fair, is Cassie’s answer to a lot of his questions.
Tony doesn’t really know all the reasons why he did it. Why he keeps doing it. Okay, so he’d saved Sid the trouble of a messy, difficult relationship with a girl far too complicated for his simple mind. And okay, so he kind of just likes the way she twirls her hair around her fingers, and the way she curls her toes when she comes. But there are more reasons in there. Somewhere. Probably.
All he knows for sure is that Sid couldn’t handle her, and he’s doing a pretty damn good job of handling her himself – in all senses of the word.

Date: 2007-05-11 11:50 pm (UTC)I loved this bit, I loved all of it, but that bit was exactly how I see Cassie myself.
It was all very well done, in character etc.
Not the most hopeful feedback ever right, but it's almost 1am, so I hope you'll forgive me!

Date: 2007-05-12 10:29 am (UTC)I'm really glad you liked it, thank you. Usually with Skins I don't worry about them being IC that much, because we know their characters so well it's easy, but I thought maybe I was taking Cassie a bit far. Heh.
:D

Date: 2007-05-13 07:51 pm (UTC)I really loved this. As you may or may not have guessed I'm not much of a het person but I do like a well-written unconventional pairing and this was just perfect. I also tend to find Cassie/Sid as dull as dishwater so I love your Cassie/Tony as a very viable (and I think plausible) alternative.
Plus ...
Girls are all the same in bed when you get right down to it, Tony thinks. Pay enough attention to the clit and you’re sorted.
... you've not only got Tony but every cocky teenage boy right there.

Date: 2007-05-13 11:09 pm (UTC)I'm not much of a het person either but certain pairings intrigue me, and if there's incest involved I'm pretty much there. Although I have serious issues writing het sex explicitly. I mean, I can do it, but for some reason I get all squicked out. Haha. I know what you mean about Cassie/Sid being dull, I feel the same way - I don't mind writing/reading them, as well as Tony/Maxxie, but only if it's done creatively.
:D Indeed. I figured that's how he'd be about sex, because - yeah, teenage boy.

Date: 2007-06-12 10:31 pm (UTC)Also I think Tony / Cassie is cool ^^ I've never read any before but it is a curious couple. I write Sid / Tony which might not be appealing to most people so there's so much of it in the actual series but... well, it's fun! Thank you for using an interesting pairing.
As for writing the fic in an hour, it's really well done! I write my fics quickly as well, they just tend to spring up and come out and that's it. I can write a chapter in about half an hour sometimes.
