During their little back and forth 'I'm so going to punch you only not really' thing, I was literally thinking, "God, these two need to MAKE OUT ALREADY." And then--just--OH MY GOD, SKINS, THIS IS WHY I LOVE YOU. ♥

As if all the 'I fucking love you's and the "Apart from those times when my cock's actually up your arse" (or whatever Cook said) thing, weren't enough, we get that. A kiss. A KISS ON THE LIPS. THEY ARE CANON. THEY ARE CANON, YOU GUYS, I AM NOT ACCEPTING ANYTHING ELSE. REMEMBER WHEN TONY KISSED SID ON THE LIPS LAST SEASON? THIS IS LIKE THAT. OMG.

Anyway, because of that, I loved this episode, despite the fact that Freddie is still boring. And also annoyingly angsty over some rather insignificant things? I don't hate him or anything, he's just dull, still. I thought my opinion would change when we got to see his episode, but...eh.

The thing is, I kind of...I kind of want Freddie/Karen hate!sex. BECAUSE I AM A BAD PERSON. But like, it's not just me and my incest-mind, is it? I mean, Skins has a bit of a thing about the incestuous brother/sister relationship, right? Because...within like the first five minutes he was telling her she was sexy. (Being forced to, but still.) And what kind of brother pulls his sister's trousers down when he's angry at her? And also the whole calling-her-a-whore thing, idk, it was hot, I'm a creep, let's move on.

JJ. Is awesome. And if you don't find him adorable, you officially have no heart. I just want to give him a really, really big hug. And I also maybe want him to be my boyfriend, but I think that a relationship between two people that socially awkward would probably be pretty doomed. But still! ADORABLE. He calls Freddie 'Freddie-brek'! And BREATHES FIRE. I can't wait for his episode, I want to find out more about this possible-autism he's got going (apparently).

'Pucking' - CHRIS REFERENCE, HOORAY. Also, in that scene...okay I think I might have been seeing things, but did it say 'INCEST' on a piece of paper stuck on the wall behind Freddie's head? I caught like, a glimpse, and I swear that's what it looked like. OR DO I JUST HAVE INCEST ON THE BRAIN AT ALL TIMES. PROBABLY THIS.

I absolutely ADORE Naomi for her 'soliloquy = wanking' observation. Speaking of funny lines, this episode had so many great throwaway ones that weren't like HEY, FIND THIS FUNNY. I love it when Skins does that. Like Cook saying he needed to stop thinking about Dickens after the Hamlet discussion, ahaha, oh dear. And Mr. Stonem's "DON'T YOU DARE USE 'CUNT' AND 'OXFAM' IN THE SAME SENTENCE." And the judge guy (Rich Fulcher!!) when he was on the phone being like "...yeah, and go around raping people...yeah," or whatever. Fantastic.

What I really DIDN'T like, predictably, was the Freddie/Effy stuff. It's boring and it's cliché. I assume when Effy was all "I don't think I can--" she meant, like, I don't think I can ~open up to you~. Like, I get where they're going, I think. She has sex a lot and it never means anything (except for when it's with Tony ♥) because she doesn't ever actually develop proper feelings for the person, but blah blah, she's actually starting to like Freddie, so she's distancing herself, in what she thinks is the best way possible (i.e. fucking his best friend) but he's so persistant that it won't matter, etc etc.

I wouldn't usually be bothered by the boring/cliché thing, except that a) it's Skins and I expect better, and b) Effy's my favourite and she's my favourite because she's interesting, so by giving her this storyline, they're fucking that up. :( Idk. Maybe I'd like the idea more if I liked Freddie, but, I just can't see why FREDDIE would be the guy to make her change like this. But I don't know, it's early days, maybe it'll get better. If a threesome happens, I will forgive the writers in like, an instant.

What else did I have to say? Ack, the Cook/Freddie kiss has made my brain stop functioning normally. Idk. I'm looking forward to next week. I really, really hope Tony gets mentioned at least once before this Stonem parents divorce storyline is over, though. Please?

EDIT: Okay, I've given myself a little while and I've just come back and re-read this, and...how weird is it that there's this character I find totally dull, and this character I basically hate, and they're the ones I'm shipping the most strongly at the moment? WHAT'S THAT ABOUT, BRAIN? Oh well.

OMG IKR. OMG. I've been thinking about it all day which makes me feel really lame, but...I don't even know.

I'm so weirdly wrapped up in this storyline now! And this ship in general. I don't even like the characters! It's so weird for me to care as much as I do. I think it's just the intense fucked-up-ness of it all and how it's so...unexplained, you know? Like we don't know if that kiss was meant to be gay at all, or if it was only meant to be a little bit gay, or if one of them's actually gay...IT'S A MYSTERY.

Yeah, the ep probably won't change your mind. I was trying not to get too opinionated about it before it actually kicked off, because I thought they might still pull it off in a way I'd be okay with, but...no. It's just really cliché and stupid. I'm glad you agree, Freddie really IS boring. :/

I officially don't like Freddie and his family. I nearly skipped that Sexbomb part, because it annoyed me so much. I don't even want Karen/Freddie and I'm normally an incest fan, too.. Despite that i really liked this episode. And I really liked the end.^^ I was the whole time like oh not Effy/Freddie pleeeease. But this end pleased me. (You know I love Cook). And that kiss was awesome... well I don't ship Freddie/Cook(cause I simply can't stand Freddie) but it was really nice, though.
Also depressive-Effy is great. I like that because she gets a little self-destructive then.
And I'm so looking forward to the next ep. Naomi vs. Cook haha sounds like muchos fun!

The end pleased me, too. I don't care about Effy/Cook but at least it's more interesting than Effy/Freddie, lol. It's more fucked-up and it means the love triangle's not resolved, really, so--more exciting! :D I agree with you about liking Effy more when she's depressed/self-destructive. Haha.

No one can say Tony and Effy had a normal brother/sister relationship, and now Freddie's and Karen's is at the very least a bit odd, and then there was 'incest' on the wall and that bit in S2 when that girl asked Tony if he wanted to fuck his sister...the list goes on. XD

I didn't catch the Anwar one but I rewatched the beginning of the ep today to see where it was, and, awesome! Cook knows him, then, I guess? I couldn't understand much of his ranting, lol.

I'm a bit disturbed that the father, who seems to be a nice respectable bloke, is so cool with the idea of his daughter basically whoring herself on TV. I wonder if she'll be at the centre of Seasons 5 and 6 if they do happen.

I never thought about the fact that there's going to have to be another younger generation if they carry on, I don't know why, but yeah, I guess Karen would be the one...unless someone else gets introduced. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm so caught up in the fanon part of it that I didn't immediately start thinking about where it'll ACTUALLY go next. But...I just don't know. If they try and pass this off as not a big deal, that'll be weird. I know the Skins writers might have a different idea of 'male friendship' than we do, but the way Cook's been acting towards Freddie just...can't realistically be explained without a bit of gay in there? Right? It's so hard with stuff like this, idk if it's just my slasher's mind.

I really like your theories though, they're not fucked up, they actually make sense. I kinda like the idea of Cook turning out to be gay, and he just fucks all these girls because he's madly in denial, you know? It's not my absolute personal canon or anything, I'm still sort of toying with all the different ways this could go. I'm really so intrigued by this storyline now, I so didn't expect to be.

Tony kissed Sid on the lips in Tony's episode of Season 2, so, episode 6 I think? It was when he was telling Michelle and Sid that they needed to split up because it was weird, and he told Michelle he loved her, and then he said to Sid "And you. I love you too, you little fucker," or something, and kissed him. It was literally just a peck on the lips, but still!! He also kissed him on the forehead for like an hour during the S2 finale.

Cook/JJ is cute, while Cook/Freddie is more aggressive (not in the first episodes, but definitely now).

I think it was wild enough to see it as sexual. Now, that doesn't mean Cook is gay, he can just be bi, or straight but not minding to snog guys occasionally. Sexuality on Skins is always very open. ^__^

The theories make sense because they're fucked-up. XD You know what? I think the Skins writers just went on the Internet and read lots of novel-length NC-17 fics full of multi-ships and orgies and created Skins based on that! Skins is like a huge porny fic while Merlin is a huge worksafe (for now ^^) fic.

That's true too. XD I just don't know if they'd do that, but then again, they had Maxxie as like The Gay Character before and at the same time Cassie was sleeping with girls and they didn't make it a big deal. Like they didn't make her start announcing she was bisexual. I liked that.

But it's just the build-up, and the way he sort of pushes Freddie's face away afterwards and then the way his voice wavers when he says "JJ, we're leaving." Nngh. NEED FOLLOW-UP NOW, PLZ, SHOW.

I was meaning not to watch season three but your weekly updates (particularly this one) made me spend an entire afternoon on the first five episodes~ :D :D

I'm a bit ambivalent about S3 in general; none of the characters apart from Effy and Naomi really appeal to me, so I guess I'll be looking out for Naomi's episode next week. The good thing about my general lack of opinion, on the other hand, is that any pairing seems potentially good to me, so I'm just looking out for any fic, really. :)

The only thing that bugged me in this episode was when Effy started freakin' on Cook for sleeping with Pandora, because a) I actually thought (in a rather twisted way) that that was one of the 'nicest' things Cook's done so far (idk, is that wrong). Like the whole scene where he played Twisted and everything, it was so adorable. Anyways, I understand her being a little peeved at Panda, because yeah, she slept with him, and that's not supposed to happen, but b) Cook wasn't hers, we all know that, SO WHY THE HELL WAS SHE ANGRY AT him. and then lolz, she slept with him anyways.

The entire lake scene me and my sister were like, "isn't that water REALLY cold right now?"

I agree that Freddie is boring, but I feel for him kind of just because he's lost his mom and his sister and dad are such dicks to him. I ship Freddie/Effy only because I don't really like Effy that much and I don't like Cook/Effy.

Cook was my favorite character before this episode but now I'm starting to hate him. I think I liked him because I have this feeling that something really bad has happened to him. I wish they had gone into more detail about his home life in his episode.
