So like...you know how I have a bit of a history of becoming spontaneously obsessed with rather embarrassing boybands?

Well. I have NO CLUE how this happened, but over the past week, I've been kind of like, really interested in Tokio Hotel. :/ If you don't know who they are, have their Wiki page, or be lazy and let me just tell you they're basically a German pop-rock band. I can't work out if this is more or less embarrassing than liking the JoBros. And Hanson. (Actually, I'm not embarrassed about liking Hanson anymore.) Gah, I don't know, I HAVE NO EXCUSE.

Except for the twincest. The band has twins in it and there is just SO MUCH INCESTUOUS TENSION THERE.

...Seriously, there's a trend here, isn't there?

I don't know, I'm like 99% sure that I'm not just delusional and that if you look past the ridiculous hair and the make up and everything, Bill and Tom Kaulitz are actually like, really pretty. At first I was only interested in Tom, and then I was like, HEY WAIT, BILL HAS TOM'S FACE, and then it was all downhill from there. I'm mostly only attracted to Bill when he doesn't have the giant hair, though. It's weird. It's like, any other hairstyle? WOW. But the second the hair's big, my attraction is gone and I find myself slightly scared of him. Odd.

ANYWAY yeah this is totally leading to a picspam so let's just get it over with, shall we?

Actually, can we talk about the hair for a second? It fascinates me. How does he get it to do that? What first gave him the idea? Did he look in the mirror one day and think, "Hey, you know, my hair's NOT QUITE MASSIVE ENOUGH"? And how does he sleep on it? Or shower? WHAT DOES HE DO WHEN IT RAINS? Can he ever wear hats? What does it feel like? THERE ARE JUST SO MANY QUESTIONS. IT'S SUCH A MYSTERY TO ME.

I have the shirt Bill's wearing here! It's this and I love it. I do get some weird looks though...it's like, I just think it's pretty! I'm not actually advocating suicide! But more importantly, THEY ARE MAKING A HEART WITH THEIR HANDS, HOW ADORABLE?!

Here is the song that started all of this for me:

It's called 'In Die Nacht' and this video has (kind of crappy font-wise) English subtitles so you can understand the full incestuous-ness of the whole thing. Bill wrote the song for Tom and whenever they perform it, they do it this way, with just the two of them, Bill singing to Tom as Tom plays the guitar. I think my favourite bit is 'You are everything that I am/and everything that's flowing trough my veins', but also, at the end of that video, Bill FULLY GOES 'There will come a time/we'll be together/in the night'. I know this is just a translation and also you know, it's a metaphor for death or whatever, but seeeeeriously!!

Here's a fun anecdote: I played my Mum this song and she was shocked to be told it was a man singing. I started cracking up, like "And you haven't even seen what he LOOKS like!" Later, I showed her a picture of the twins and because I didn't immediately say who they were or mention a connection to the song, she assumed I was showing her a random picture of two girls. Oh dear.

The thing is, it's actually a bit sad, because it's like, PAINFULLY, PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that Bill really, really wants to do his brother, and Tom seems to be (for the most part) pretty oblivious. OR ELSE I'M DELUSIONAL. PROBABLY.

Speaking of the fandom, it's the type I can tell I'm probably going to end up really, really frustrated with after a while, and I haven't found any good fic yet. :( So I've sort of just been lurking around. I'm not used to liking foreign bands, I keep being surprised when I can't understand them in interviews. I'M SMART, I KNOW. I did actually learn German for aaages in school so I can pick up some words/phrases. Also, the English versions of their songs generally sound ridiculous, so it's okay.

I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore. I should go to sleep.


I am expecting half of the comments on this post to be something along the lines of 'lol okay, you loser' and the other half to be something about how WAIT, BILL IS A GUY?

It's okay, I totally see what you mean. Almost all of the pictures where he has the big hair, i.e. what he looks like now I think, just...really scare me. I don't even know why, there's just something really creepy about his appearance like that, he doesn't even look real.

I'm terribly sorry for the outrage but I'm from Germany and I have been annoyed by them by experiencing how they started as a teen boy group (they were just 15, can you imagine?) and popped up in every damn channel and magazines,luring 14 year old crazed girls, and they ended up just...pestering. You wouldn't believe my reaction when I saw this while lurking.Yes, I lurk, I hope you don't mind >.<

Have you actually seen how Bill looked like before you've seen him like this? He had much shorter hair and really looked like a tomboy.

Oh, and about his orientation? Well, there are rumors here, that he actually prefers male company. On their 18th birthday it was supposed that he came out - as you would say it in English? - by outing himself via myspace. But then the band stated in an interview that they do not spend time at Chats, Blogs or online communities such as Myspace. *shrug*

I have seen older pictures of Bill, yeah, his hair was possibly even more ridiculous back then though. Well, maybe not, but basically I think his hair has ALWAYS BEEN RIDICULOUS. Anyway. I'm kinda indifferent to these boys and their music, but I have nothing against them. I just wish that they'd get rid of the hair. I love their music as well as their inherent slashiness, but I can understand that they're not everyone's cup of tea. (My favourite theory is that a shitload of the male haters are freaked out because they thought Bill was hot before finding out he's a guy, and girls are threatened because he's so damn pretty. ^__^). It's a bit sad that there's so much hatred of them in their own country though, all because of overexposure at a young age. Most of them haven't actually heard any of their songs since Durch Den Monsun.

You may want to join th_cult - it was started by fans from ontd. They get a little bit too mean and cracky sometimes for my taste (I get a bit too defensive of the boys!), but if you like ontd you'll enjoy it. The fandom's quiet at the moment though, because the band's gone into hiding so the stalkers can't find them squirreled away working diligently on their new album. As sillyfax mentioned, Tokio Hotel Fiction is the best place for fic. There's some damn good stuff there.

Anyway, I noticed you don't have any pics of Comet!Bill in your picspam. I shall rectify this, with massively hi-res pics of prettiness!

I wasn't really feeling much of anything about their music, but I've been listening to it a lot more over the past few days and it's grown on me SO MUCH. I'm enjoying it a lot now. I can understand the overexposure thing, though that's such a shame, yeah. And I definitely agree with the theory. XD It just makes so much sense!

I'll totally look into th_cult, I love ONTD so that sounds good. I remember when there were a lot of TH posts on ONTD and I was thinking, now that I'm interested they seem to have disappeared?! But I guess that's where they all went!

I have seriously spent like...the past...however long it's been since I made this post, obsessing over them. I've been listening to them loads and exploring the fandom and everything so I kind of know more than I did when I made this post, haha. I've seen pictures where Tom really looks like a girl too.
